When I think of Angelina Jolie, her ability to make some hilarious faces on camera always comes to mind.
But did you also know that she has worked for the United Nations Commission for Human Rights (UNHCR) for 13 years? Since becoming involved with the UN branch she has gone on more than 40 missions around the world. In 2012 she was named United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, an incredible honor for anyone involved in humanitarian work. Outside of her work with the UN, she travels to countries with high refugee populations to show her support and use her popularity to focus media attention on the region. She has launched countless independent organizations and is constantly working to improve the lives of others.
As such a powerful figure in both the media and the humanitarian relief world, Jolie is often meeting with high political figures to discuss issues concerning some of the most dangerous countries in the world. President Obama and the director of the CIA are just a few on the long list of political individuals she consults with concerning her work. Below is an photograph from a trip she took to Syria in 2012 where she met with the Kurdistan Prime Minister.
