Malala Yousafzai has been called the most famous teenager in the world, yet her name and face is far from universally known. So, who is this girl?

At the young age of 15 years old, Malala was shot (and nearly killed) by a Taliban gunman while on a school bus near her home in northwestern Pakistan. This man was part of a group that stands against education and independence for young girls and women.
Malala has been writing on her own blog about her goal of becoming a doctor and her experiences and obstacles she faces to gaining the education necessary to achieve that goal.
Now back in school, Malala has released a book that aims to raise awareness about the 61 million children around the world who are not in school.
Malala is passionate about increasing access to education and empowering women. She has used her voice to speak out against the Taliban and has become a symbol of inspiration for many.
In 2013, Malala was named to TIME Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in the World and was featured on the cover of the magazine!
Seeing girls like Malala stand up for what they believe in makes me realize that no matter what age you are or where you live you can make a real difference! You rock, Malala!!
